importance of good observation |
What if a pedestrian is crossing the road into which I am
turning? You should be checking as you approach the turning. A
pedestrian who has already started to cross has priority, so give
way. They might not have seen you.
How can I improve my view of the road into which I'm turning?
Sometimes buildings, hedges, bends in the road or parked cars
can obscure your view. Edge forward slowly until you can see the
road clearly before you pull out.
In a one way street. move into the correct lane as soon as
you can do so safely.
When approaching a junction make sure that you slow down in
good time so that you don't have to break harshly if you need
to stop.
Watch out for pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists when
you're turning. They're not as easy to see as large vehicles.
