| |
Mirrors - Signal - Manoeuvre |
| M |
Use your mirrors to check the speed and position
of traffic around and behind you |
| S |
Show others what you intend to do. Always
signal in good time |
| M |
Manoeuvre (see PSL below) - a change in speed
or position - slowing down, stopping or turning |
| |
Position - Speed - Look |
| P |
Position your car correctly, in good time,
for the move you want to make |
| S |
Adjust your speed so it is appropriate for
the manoeuvre |
| L |
Have a final look to check that it's safe
before you start to steer |
If you don't have a clear view of the road because someone
has parked close to you, edge out slowly and only move off when
you can see that it's safe to do so.
If someone is following you very closely when you want to
stop make sure you signal in good time to let them know that you're
going to slow down and stop.
Always use your mirrors but only signal if you need to. Don't
just signal automatically.
Check your blind spots. Don't pull out without looking or
make anyone else stop or swerve.
Move off smoothly in the correct gear and don't accelerate
excessively.
