The team at Phoenix Driving (www.PhoenixDriving.org) and Begin Driving Lessons have come up with the top 14 driving test tips for the driving test.

1. Practice makes perfect. Don't rush your learning. A test can only be passed if you can consistently do everything correctly with your instructor.

2. Driving is fun. Enjoy your test. When you sit your test, pretend you are going for a drive and you are giving a lift to a friend of a friend.

3. Eat something a few hours before you go and do the test. You don't want to feel light headed and hungry.

4. Listen to your instructor's advice. They wouldn't put you in for a test if you couldn't pass it.

5. Ignore others. Don't listen to people who want to offer negative stories about the test.

6. When you are in the waiting room, visualize passing.

7. Remember, you can only do your best. The driving test is only as pressurized as you make it.

8. If you make a mistake, don't panic. If you can, fix it. If you can't, don't worry. It may not be as bad as you thought.

9. Ask if unsure. If you are given an instruction that you don't understand, then ask your examiner to explain. They won't mind, they are human too.

10. Get a good night's sleep so you can arrive refreshed and on time.

11. Bring you documents. No point being a great driver if you forget to bring your driving licence and you can't take the test.

12. Consider taking a herbal remedy if this will help with nerves. Talk to your doctor first, see what they recommend.

13. Wear clothing and shoes that you feel comfortable in.

14. Listen to your examiner's advice. After the test the examiner will go over with you how you have done. Listen to the advice. It will help you in your future career as a driver.
